We fund intentional research projects across health and bioscience sectors in New Brunswick.
Past Recipients
The NBHRF has partnership agreements with many other funding agencies.Researchers apply to the partner agency.If they are successful, NBHRF will contribute a portion of the total grant or award as outlined in the formal agreement.
The NBHRF Strategic Initiative Grant program is designed to leverage financial contributions from the private sector.
The Research-Related Support Fund is designed to assist in designing, developing, pitching and conducting research by funding or partially funding research-related expenses which do not fit within other NBHRF programs.
The Bridge Grant Program is designed to build on existing research capacity in New Brunswick by providing support for health researchers who have scored at the fundable level on a recent application to any national funding agency but have not been funded for that application or closely related research.
The Establishment Grant for New Investigators program is designed to assist in the establishment of new outstanding health researchers in New Brunswick by providing funding to develop their independent health research programs. It is expected that the applicant works with their university department head and vice-president(s) to prepare their application.
The NBHRF Knowledge Translation (KT) Grant is designed to assist in capacity building by helping to defray the costs associated with KT such as, but not restricted to, publication costs, marketing material costs, communications costs or travel costs (travel costs will be considered if they are for making a scientific presentation (oral or poster) as a first author or presenter at a conference or other relevant professional meeting outside of Atlantic Canada).
The NBHRF Summer Studentship Program is designed to encourage undergraduate students to pursue formal post-graduate training and a career in health research in New Brunswick by offering a salary stipend to participate in medical or health research at a New Brunswick institution.
The NBHRF Master’s / Doctoral / Post-Doctoral Studentship Program is designed to reward excellence by providing assistance for students undertaking their own research project or program as part of their thesis-based degree studies at a Master’s, Doctorate (PhD) or Post-Doctoral program/appointment at a New Brunswick university, college or research institution.
Clinical Scholarships are designed to facilitate the recruitment and retention of qualified clinicians with a track-record of clinical health research in various clinical therapeutic areas.
In 2022 the new NBHRF portal was launched. Any required mid-term and final reports for projects in 2021 and prior could no longer be uploaded into the previous portal. As such, this program is for submitting said reports.
