Le laboratoire Sys-MoDEL ressemble \u00e0 un magasin de jouets haute technologie, o\u00f9 des mod\u00e8les \u00e9lectroniques de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques et des simulateurs de direction se disputent l&rsquo;espace avec l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement informatique.<\/p>\r\n<p>Il s&rsquo;agit toutefois d&rsquo;un jeu tr\u00e8s s\u00e9rieux. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la pens\u00e9e syst\u00e9mique, Sys-MoDEL ne se contente pas de repenser les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques hors route : le laboratoire favorise \u00e9galement l&rsquo;innovation en \u00e9nergie marine et contribue \u00e0 former la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d&rsquo;inventeurs et d&rsquo;acteurs de changement du Nouveau-Brunswick.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>R\u00e9duire les risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;innovation<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Sys-MoDEL m\u00e8ne ses recherches en r\u00e9ponse aux besoins de l&rsquo;industrie, et les travaux du Dr Bubbar sur les v\u00e9hicules hors route sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9s en collaboration avec l&rsquo;entreprise de Fredericton Potential Motors. Ce projet illustre bien pourquoi la pens\u00e9e syst\u00e9mique est une approche aussi transformatrice.<\/p>\r\n<p>Actuellement, les syst\u00e8mes de contr\u00f4le des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques hors route sont ce que le Dr Bubbar qualifie de \u00ab r\u00e9actifs \u00bb : ils s&rsquo;adaptent aux changements du terrain en recueillant et en interpr\u00e9tant des donn\u00e9es en temps r\u00e9el. Sys-MoDEL est maintenant en train de d\u00e9passer cette approche passive. Le laboratoire con\u00e7oit un syst\u00e8me capable d&rsquo;anticiper les nids-de-poule et les rochers avant m\u00eame que le v\u00e9hicule ne les rencontre.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00c0 plus grande \u00e9chelle, la m\u00e9thodologie de Sys-MoDEL aide aussi d&rsquo;autres innovateurs \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir le comportement des technologies \u00e9mergentes lorsqu&rsquo;elles passent de la planche \u00e0 dessin au monde r\u00e9el. Cette approche est particuli\u00e8rement prometteuse pour les \u00e9nergies marines renouvelables (\u00e9olien en mer et \u00e9nergie mar\u00e9motrice), un secteur au potentiel \u00e9norme, mais frein\u00e9 par les co\u00fbts \u00e9lev\u00e9s associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la validation de nouveaux \u00e9quipements.<\/p>\r\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce au financement de ResearchNB, le Dr Bubbar et son \u00e9quipe ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 la Bo\u00eete \u00e0 outils d&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie oc\u00e9anique (Ocean Engineering Toolbox &#8211; OET). Ce logiciel libre permet aux ing\u00e9nieurs de simuler l&rsquo;installation d&rsquo;\u00e9quipements d&rsquo;essai en milieu marin sans avoir \u00e0 assumer les co\u00fbts li\u00e9s \u00e0 leur construction, leur transport et leur installation. L&rsquo;OET pourrait bien \u00eatre la cl\u00e9 pour ouvrir un nouveau segment lucratif au sein du secteur \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique en pleine croissance du Nouveau-Brunswick.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Former des acteurs de changement<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Potential Motors a vu le jour comme projet \u00e9tudiant sous la supervision du Dr Bubbar. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, l&rsquo;entreprise collabore avec des \u00e9tudiants actuels de l&rsquo;UNB afin de poursuivre le d\u00e9veloppement de sa technologie novatrice.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00ab Tout est une question d&rsquo;autonomisation, n&rsquo;est-ce pas ? \u00bb, explique le Dr Bubbar. Sys-MoDEL soutient les entreprises avec lesquelles il collabore, tout en donnant aux \u00e9tudiants des occasions concr\u00e8tes d&rsquo;apprentissage pratique aupr\u00e8s de partenaires industriels.<\/p>\r\n<p>Mentor engag\u00e9, le Dr Bubbar applique les principes de la pens\u00e9e syst\u00e9mique tant dans son enseignement que dans sa recherche.
