Academic Start-up Fund
The Academic Start-up Fund is a part of ResearchNB’s Talent Support Pillar and aims to accelerate the early stages of newly hired professor’s research programs.
By offering this support to exceptional hires, our goal is to assist them to scale up their labs, through the hiring of personnel, such as students and research professionals, and the purchase of equipment or technology that allows researchers to build their research program.
CFI-JELF Matching Fund
The CFI-JELF Matching Fund is a part of ResearchNB’s Infrastructure Support pillar and aims to support those who have received CFI-JELF funding.
Applications approved by CFI-JELF will be considered for a ResearchNB matching contribution of up to 40% of the value of the project (40% from the CFI and 20% from other sources).
The maximum request is tied to the 40% of total project value calculation and the timelines for the award are project specific.
Applications to this fund should only be made after prior discussions with the ResearchNB Program Manager (insert name) and should only be for applications which have received their CFI-JELF funding.
Equipment and Infrastructure Support Fund
As a part of ResearchNB’s Infrastructure Pillar, the goal of this program is to support the purchase of critical equipment, infrastructure or technology necessary to support research in the province of New Brunswick.
The Equipment and Infrastructure Fund aims to build capacity at NB research institutions by supporting purchases necessary to build research programs and addressing province-wide needs for key instrumentation or infrastructure. Furthermore, this program sees success where the equipment intended to be purchased has the capacity to enable the growth of HQP (both students and professionals) and facilitate cross sector or institutional collaborations
Student Support Fund
As part of ResearchNB’s Talent Support Pillar, this program’s goal is to support the hiring of undergraduate and graduate students to work in a research focused role at a university, college or research institution in New Brunswick.
The researcher must demonstrate that the project is well-supported by the institution and how the project will offer students meaningful opportunities to develop essential skills for their future careers.
Clinical Fellowships
As part of ResearchNB’s Talent Support Pillar, this program’s goal is to promote the continuity and expansion of clinical research in New Brunswick by supporting the release of qualified individuals from clinical duties to pursue research activities in healthcare-related fields, such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, or other clinical disciplines.
At least 10% of clinical time will be dedicated to the health research project proposed. This award is not a salary top-up, and no other salary award (from any granting institution) can be received for the duration of this award. This award is non-renewable.
Priority Sectors Development Fund
As a part of ResearchNB’s Ideas Pillar, this program’s goal is to support initiatives that align with ResearchNB’s priority sectors and are a part of large-scale, transformative projects for the Province. These funds should focus on innovation, capacity building, or addressing critical challenges within a specific sector. Recipients are expected to demonstrate significant impact and sustainability of the work beyond the ResearchNB grant period.
Research Professional Fund
The Research Professional Fund is a part of ResearchNB’s Talent Support pillar and its goal is to support the hiring of post graduate researchers as highly skilled personnel to work in research labs in both a research and student management capacity. The research professional will need to spend at least 50% of their time involved in research.
Research Program Bridging Fund
As part of ResearchNB’s Ideas Pillar, this funding program’s goal is to support the continuation and future success of highly meritorious research programs that have not been successful in receiving federal program-based support.
In the event that a researcher had secured a multi-year federal program based (or similar type) award, but was unsuccessful in their renewal, this program will support the year’s gap as they prepare for re-application to that federal opportunity.
Summer Student Support Fund
As part of ResearchNB’s Talent Support Pillar, this program’s goal is to support the hiring of undergraduate and medical students during the summer semester (May – August) to gain experience in research lab settings by offering a salary stipend of up to $8000.
