What is Seed Funding?

ResearchNB Seed Funds are funding programs that focus on building capacity for future federal, private, or public research investments in New Brunswick and catalyze research. Seed Funds do not have matching funding requirements.

What types of partnerships are eligible?

Any partner outside of a research institution. Partners can be government, non-government organizations, non-profit organizations, community organizations, for-profit businesses, and industry.

What do you mean by equity-based co-creation?

Equity-based co-creation (EqCC) is a collaborative approach that fosters equitable knowledge systems by intentionally redistributing power throughout the research process. EqCC helps articulate and leverage the “embedded” knowledge and expertise that partners can contribute to research focused on societal impact, in addition to the lived-experience of end-users or other community members where relevant.  

I share a Research Professional with another researcher. Can we submit two separate projects under one application?

No, two separate applications need to be submitted in this case where the research professional’s involvement in both projects needs to be separately articulated.

Will ResearchNB accept applications for positions that are part-time?

Yes, however research professionals must spend a minimum of 50% of their part-time employment working directly on the research project.

Can I request the full $70k for a position duration of 1 year?

Yes.

How many applications can each principal investigator submit?

To ensure fair funding distribution across the application pool, each principal investigator is restricted to one (1) application submission per competition.

The program description indicates that the program supports post-graduate positions, what does that mean?

This means folks holding at least a Masters degree, or a PhD, but that are finished their studies.
